Circoloco Lights Up Brooklyn for Halloween
Another Halloween has passed and while NYC had a variety of parties and events, Circoloco had one of the best lineups of any party that weekend. Although we didn’t have any problems getting in, we know some people waited in line for quite some time. Once inside the lights were low, red with minimal lasers, and there were plenty of bars to stay hydrated. Per usual, everyone crowded around the first corner bar, but there was a massive bar in the back that never had a line. Most people gravitated to the front of the stage, pleasantly the space had the same speakers at the front and middle, therefore the music sounded great no matter where you were in the venue.
Although the decor was pretty bare, it included iconic neon Circoloco signs throughout the venue, as well as plenty of clown faces hanging from the ceiling. But let’s be honest, no one comes to Circoloco for the decor. They come for the music. To sum it up, the music and the sound were fantastic from the beginning to end. Three of our favorite sets came from Black Coffee, Cassy b2b Tania Vulcano and The Martinez Brothers.
DeWalta and Konstantin opened the night, as the crowds filled the dance floor. The show was sold out, we were surprised to see how much space there was inside as Black Coffee came on around 1 AM. Very soon after that, he began laying down track after track, some less familiar and some that were clearly crowd favorites. His set included Music (Manoo’s Manadub Remix) by Emilie Nana, Fete (U Lost) by Caiiro, That Jazzy Swing (feat. Dr Moruti) by Black Motion and of course Too much information (Laolu Remix) by Dele Sosimi & Afrobeat Orchestra.
Next up were Cassy and Tania Vulcano. They started the set with some really groovy tunes including Superstylin’ (Riva Starr Edit) by Groove Armada and Pump (Dress it; Rah Freeze mix) by Dred Stock. The set transitioned more into tech house right after that and followed up with tracks like Money (David Morales Red Zone Mix) by Gorgon City and they wrapped it up with All Over My Face 08 by DJ Sneak.
Up next, The Martinez Brothers! As usual the duo brought it Their performance was full of great tunes including Vermont by Andrea Olivia, Millie Vanille by Green Velvet feat. Russoul and Rose Rouge by Analog People in a Digital World. But, the highlight of the set was when they dropped the newest Eats Everything track ‘Rita’E’.
Circoloco definitely delivered on their promise of bringing great talent under one roof for one night.
